Joe hands over Festival cash to the paramedics who saved him 09 Nov 2008 Handing over a £750 share of the proceeds from the Galtres Festival 2008 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is, pictured centre, Joe Morris with paramedics Pete Vallance (left) and Darren Axe (right).
Joe Morris is the son of one of the main organisers of the Galtres Festival, Pete Morris. Joe himself was taken by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance earlier this year to St James' Hospital Leeds after a riding accident. After the freak accident, in which his horse bit a chunk off his ear, five-year-old Joe Morris from Sutton-on-the-Forest became the youngest patient to fly in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance without a parent.
Joe's mother Helen said: "The air ambulance crew were brilliant. Joe said they talked to him all the time and pointed out things on the ground to him as they flew to Leeds. He didn’t even realise I wasn’t there! He was so excited about going in the helicopter."
This is the third year the Galtres Festival has supported the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which relies entirely on fundraising to stay in the air. Click here to find out more about Joe's story.
