The Forest of Galtres Festival 2006 will be four fantastic festivals
all in one, building on the success of last year's festival in Crayke,
but this year moving to the splendid setting of Sutton
Park Stately Home in Sutton-on-the-Forest, a few miles north
of York.
Drawing on the delectable brews from North Yorkshire's 20 or so independent
breweries and cider houses, we'll be choosing 40 or more barrels for
you to work your way through during the day. All will be in prime condition,
served straight from the firkin and cooled in the traditional manner
using hessian sacking and water. As well as the real ales, a few real
lagers and milds will be included in the list, together with some fine
Yorkshire scrumpy, cider and perry. We'll have a wine and soft drinks
bar too. Click here
for more about real ale, or here
for the latest beers and ciders list.
Last year's festival turned into a right old stomp thanks to some excellent
musicians and performers, and this year will be no exception - we'll
have a full programme of entertainment including everything from traditional
dance and folk music to jazz, acoustic and rock - keep checking here
for details of the line-up or sign-up for updates by email here.
Come prepared for a feast! We'll be serving up delicious dishes throughout
the day, all sourced from local farmers and suppliers. We'll have an
Ox Roast from Sutton Park's own dexter herd, a veggie deli, pizza workshops,
some ethic foods and lots more. This event forms part of the annual
York
Festival of Food and Drink, and is also part of British
Food Fortnight.
The Galtres Festival will be a great day out for all the family. As
well as Sutton Park's own play area we'll be organising games and workshops
throughout the day for children and teenagers - likely to include storytelling,
face painting, cooking, dance, music and documentary-making. There's
loads of space to run around at Sutton Park, and we'll even book an
ice cream van. Local ice cream, of course! |
