FRIDAY 23 TO SUNDAY 25 AUGUST 2013 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE
Young Believers
chill out / folk / rock /
A band that has ignored all the new trends and gone back to basics, while managing to still sound fresh and true to heart.
Young Believers is a 5-man folk-band born 4 years ago in York with smokey vocals and melodies that avoid that old folk honey trap by sounding almost nothing like Mumford & Sons and if you’d thought Ed Sheeran had hijacked the acoustic ballad and stamped his ironic teenage delinquent image all over it, Young Believers are quietly claiming it back.
Their recent release‘Fear Walks With You’, which has achieved over 40,000 YouTube views, has real emotion behind it, despite its deceptively mellow initial appearance. Young Believers, a band full of Americana roots, banjos and lyrics relating to nature–a band that truly understands the reality of folk music. Lyrically poetic and seemingly out of a E.M. Forster novel, Young Believers are not just an indie folk band, they have created a beautiful sense of fear and tragic moments that is put channelled through music which allows listeners to relate
Folk is common in today pop dominated charts, if you're going to release folk, you need to do it in style. Young Believers deliever the goods.
