FRIDAY 23 TO SUNDAY 25 AUGUST 2013 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE
Leo and the Dandelions
acoustic / folk /
Leo and the Dandelions started performing early in 2013. Leo himself left art-rocker's Dorien Starre early the previous year to concentrate on lyrical folk music. Multi-instrumentalist Syn, accompanying him on Cello, was already a regular on the local acoustic scene in various guises (Savoy Ballroom, for one).
Bearing little relation to the new "crop" of acoustic acts, their songs bathe in subtle real-life themes, that whilst abstract, are all narrative. They also might be described as pretty, ranging from teasing Portishead esque darkness, to classic Paul Simon influenced balladry.
Can you write a protest song in 2013? What would it sound like? For Leo and the Dandelions it’s simple and yet complicated.
