The Duchess presents ...
Seth Lakeman
26 Aug 2012 19:45 to 20:45
Seth Lakeman, the West Country born singer-songwriter is credited with bringing folk music to a whole new audience since his Mercury Prize nomination in 2005. Seth tells modern tales in the traditional folk manner. He brings historical themes up to date, keeping stories alive forever. A great example of this is ‘Solomon Browne’ which recounts the story of an ill-fated rescue attempt by an RNLI lifeboat in 1981 and pays tribute to the men who lost their lives. In 2006 Seth's 3rd album 'Freedom Fields' sold over 120,000 copies in the UK alone. Seth has toured constantly since, playing his own brand of "indie-folk" to audiences at major events such as V Festival, Glastonbury and of course, Galtres! `Tales From The Barrel House' is Seth's latest album and has been described as his boldest musical statement yet. Seth has not only written the songs, but played all the instruments, produced and mixed everything too. He even went down a disused West Country copper mine to record one track to create an authentic atmosphere. With Seth you can expect plenty of foot-stomping sing-along numbers as well as more thoughtful, tender ballads from his latest creation. |
