FRIDAY 22 TO SUNDAY 24 AUGUST 2014 AT DUNCOMBE PARK, HELMSLEY, NORTH YORKSHIRE
The Buccaneers
York garage blues rockers The Buccaneers punch out three minute knockout tune after knockout tune, reminiscent of early Kings Of Leon." - Fibbers, York.
"Close your eyes and you could be at a free festival in the 70s with Edgar Broughton and the Groundhogs or an early Status Quo when they really were Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon fodder. York's Buccaneers specialise in galleon busting, cannon firing send-‘em-to-Davey-Jones-Locker big ‘ole dirty garage blues - and bloody great musicianship. It's The Doors meets Dr Feelgood, it could even be Kings Of Leon. Get out the Rory Gallagher checked shirt, thumbs in belt and shake your head." - The Duchess, York.
"After the video the band got straight into what they do best. Playing dirty bluesy tunes. ‘Take my soul’ had an awesome, old school feel to it and the live version of single ‘Don't breakdown’ sounded as perfect as it did on record. The band were joined onstage by various friends, thus only adding to the event and making their music bigger and better. They closed the set and the night with a fantastic cover of ‘Road House Blues’ by The Doors. Joined by another guitarist and keyboard player, this three piece York band played a set filled with songs that easily could have been around for decades." - One and Other, York.
