Over the years a number of local and regional charities and community groups have been supported by our events, each receiving a share of the profits - assuming of course we do manage to make some money! It's not easy these days but we do our very best!
Our festival also supports tree planting, with everyone who buys tickets being invited to contribute £5 as a voluntary carbon tax. We channel this money through Treemendous York to plant trees and to create new areas of woodland. Find out more ...
And more broadly, our procurement policies ensure significant support is given to good causes. For example, all coffee, tea and sugar at the festival comes from FairTrade sources, as does much of the wine and crafts on sale - supporting the development of sustainable communities overseas. We work with a number of charities and community organisations to ensure, for example, that children and adults with learning difficulties are able to participate in the programme as performers and traders - we feel that sort of opportunity is worth more than a cash donation, and it enriches the festival.
