Professor Fiddlesticks – Circus skills Professor Fiddlesticks will perform and teach a range of circus skills, including 3 ball juggling, devilstick, balancing, diabolo and unicycle.  Show and workshops open to all, audience members are encouraged to have a go.  Towards the close of the day, the Professor will be happy to create balloon animals for the very young, or give older children a go with the art of balloon bending.  At the beginning of the event, visitors will be welcomed by the Professor unicycling around and probably twirling his devilsticks to get warmed up for the day!

YTV costume and make-up studio Yorkshire Television will be bringing their custume and make-up department to the Galtres Festival, so you can be a TV star for the day! They will combine costume dressing up with face painting and make-up, allowing children to create their own image. They will then take photos of their creation and print them out, for a small fee in the donation box.
Judith and Laura from YTV are supporting a project called "Lets Bike For Children" which supports Barnardos,Childline, Dreams Come True, Kith&Kids, Med Equip 4 Kids. Judith and Laura will be cycling 300km next year through the Jordan valley to the shores of the Red Sea.

Withies workshop – make a Gruffalo! Amazing shapes and structures can be made from willow withies, paper and tape, and this being a festival in the woods Rick Havely is going to have a go at making a Gruffalo, with a bit of help from you, we hope. At the end of the Festival of Fun, around 5pm, the Gruffalo and its creators will form part of the procession - see below.

Sally Beausang's first how-to session of the day will show you how to make flowers and garlands from scraps of material and fabric.

Face Painting fulfils a desire for fantasy to be anything from a superhero to a scoundrel, a ferocious lion to a friendly pussycat, a wild monster to a funny clown or a crazy pirate to a pretty princess and everything in between.

Face painting is the creation of a character; the face painter just brings out the imagination within! See the wonder in the child's face as they become their fantasy, and the amazement as they see their Amazing Face in the mirror.

Now we're all hoping to spend a pleasant afternoon lying in the sunshine listening to the music while being served cool beers by Rachel the beautiful fairy in stilts. Or was that just a dream? After all, she may be just too tall to get into the beer tent. Either way she'll be a sight to lift our spirits!

Roll up, roll up for Sally's second session of the day and make yourself a mad hat or hilarious headdress to show off in the procession at the end.

Today's storytellers Linda and Tony Lyons will weave story, music and song into seamless and compelling narratives. their tales are full of sly scoundrels, witty women, ninnies and dunces, grannies and princes, twists, turns and impossible coincidences, drawn from the bottomless trove of English and Scottish traditional story.

Fed up with the boring old clothes you came in? This is your chance to make something truly outlandish, in the third of Sally's workshops this afternoon.

If Professor Fiddlesticks has taught you some circus skills this afternoon and you want something to juggle in the festival procession, get yourself along to this workshop. Sally's materials will include uv sensitive fabrics, so you can look fantastic later in the dark.

To round off the festival of fun, all the children (and many of the adults who haven't yet grown up) will be parading round the site, led by the giant Gruffalo sculpture.  Look out for Rachel the fairy stilt walker, Professor Fiddlesticks juggling on his unicycle, wacky hats, tails and tutus, a few of the musicians, and maybe a few more surprises...!

After the procession, the festival of fun marquee will be transformed into chill-out zone for the rest of the night.
